Russell P. Rank, age 79, of the Town of Utica, died at his home early Friday morning, June 12, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Russ was born February 4, 1936, the son of Harry and Millie (Ellis) Rank. He was a 1954 graduate of Berlin High School. On August 24, 1954, he entered the U.S. Air force and served until August 24, 1958. While in the service he met Barbara Bolles. She became "his beautiful bride" on May 25, 1957, in San Bernardino, CA. After Russ was discharged from active duty, the couple returned to Wisconsin, started farming and operated a dairy farm for 45 years. He was a faithful member and usher of St. Mary Catholic Church in Omro. He was also a member of the Utica Volunteer Fire Dept., the Waukau Drift Skippers Snowmobile Club, Winnebago Co. Farm Bureau, and the Winneconne/Omro Knights of Columbus Council #8810. Russ enjoyed snowmobiling, Ford tractors and spending time with family and Daisy, his faithful canine companion. Russ is dearly loved and will be missed by his wife Barbara; children, Theresa (Jim) Granger of Apple Valley, MN, Mike (Cindy) Rank of Oshkosh, Steven (Ann) Rank of New Richmond, WI, and John (Mary) Rank of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Aaron (Suzana) Rank, Melissa (Shain) Wahlen, Daniel (Janna) Granger, Kelsey Granger, Alex Rank and Elliott Rank; great-grandchildren, Evan Rank and Vera Wahlen; sister, Marge Matthias, sister-in-law, Carol Bolles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly Rank (son), Cheri Llorens (daughter), Arden Matthias and J.P. Bolles (brothers-in-law). Russell's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Affinity Visiting Nurses and Hospice Care, especially to Nurse Ryan, who demonstrated great patience, care and compassion toward the entire Rank family. Visitation will be Monday, June 15, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 6:30 p.m. with Fr. Bill Hower and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Military Honors will be presented following the Mass at church. Private burial will be at Waukau Cemetery on Tuesday. A memorial in Russell's name is being established.
