Russell Erwin Wagner, of Omro, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016, at Park View Healthcare Center in Oshkosh, surrounded by the love of his family. Russ was born at home on December 6, 1924, to Leo and Viola (Farber) Wagner. He honorably served his country in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He married Geraldine Mae Hazen in Oshkosh on February 7, 1947. Together they raised nine children. He worked for and retired from Wisconsin Axle after 34 years, and served as vice president of the union there. He was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Omro, as well as a board member of the Omro Sanitary District 1. Russ is survived by his children, Sharron (Robert) Ellis, Thomas R. Wagner, Robert "Green" (Julie) Wagner, James (Sally) Wagner, Nancy (John) Deschaine, Barbara Wagner, Douglas (Mary Ann) Wagner, Dennis (Gloria) Wagner, and Sandra (Richard) Jarzynka; 17 grandchildren, Brett (Chantal) Ellis, Rob (Betty) Ellis, Kristin (Tom) Smith, Courtney (Samantha Erickson) Wagner, Charles Wagner, Angela Schuhart, David Jarzynka, Jonathan (Jamie) Jarzynka, Tania and Jacob Wagner, James "Rusty" Wagner, Leslie (Randy) Staley, Lisa Duncan, Jennifer (Ashlee) Ainsworth; step grandchildren, Melissa Browning, Mike and Corey Deschaine and Lori Page; 29 great grandchildren; sister in law, Pat Wagner; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gerry; grandson, Cory Wagner; brother, Bill Wagner; step granddaughter, Tricia Lohse. In respect to Russ's memory, a visitation will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at the funeral home in Omro from 4-8 P.M. and then on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Following the service, Russ will be laid to rest in the Omro Cemetery, next to Gerry, his wife of 60 years.Russ' family would like to thank the staff of Park View Heathcare Center for the extraordinary care given to Russ and his family.
