Obituary

Ruth M. Hoppe, age 94, of Oshkosh, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 28, 2004 at the Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh. She was born on January 18, 1910 in Oshkosh, a daughter of the late Harry E. and Mary B. Meyer. She was united in marriage with Henry C. Hoppe on December 29, 1941 in Oshkosh. Mrs. Hoppe graduated from Oshkosh High School and the University of Oshkosh (formerly Oshkosh Teacher s College) and then taught in the Manitowoc and Oshkosh School Systems. She was a member for over 50 years of First Presbyterian Church and the Choir Guild. She was a member of the Ladies Benevolent Society and a former member of their executive board, a former member of the Century Club and Elizabeth Batchelder Davis Children s Home Auxiliary and the Curative Workshop Auxiliary.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan (Wayne) Bleick of Bonita Springs, Florida and Barbara Duwe of Oshkosh; five grandchildren, Debra Rahr Buchanan of Aspen, Colorado, Robert (Lee) Rahr Jr. of Appleton, Brian (Yazmina) Duwe of Chicago, Illinois, Brneda (James) Mueller of Wisconsin Rapids and Elizabeth (John) Konrad of Oshkosh; six great-grandchildren, Brynn and Bryce Rahr; Alex, Eric, Michael and Samantha Duwe; Tyler Konrad. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews; a sister in law, Barbara Meyer of Minneapolis and a sister in law, Viola Hoppe of Port Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 4. 1995; two brothers, Attorney Harry E. Meyer Jr. and the Reverend Gordon B. Meyer; a son in law, William Duwe.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Ruth M. Hoppe will be held on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Retirement Community Chapel, 1130 N. Westfield Street in Oshkosh with the Reverend Thomas Willadsen officiating. Entombment was next to her beloved husband in Lake View Memorial Park. There will be no visitation, the family will greet all in attendance immediately following the memorial service. Memorials in Ruth s name may be made to the Evergreen Retirement Community or First Presbyterian Church.
