Ruth Starrett, age 78, of Oshkosh, died Saturday morning, January 24, 2004 at Park View Health Center. She was born on September 27, 1925 in Oshkosh to John and Veda (Williams) Washburn. Ruth married Albert Starrett on June 8, 1946 at Wright-Patterson Air Field, Dayton, Ohio.
Ruth was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Oshkosh, where she served as an Elder and Clerk of Session. For 19 years she was a nursery teacher at first Presbyterian Preschool before retiring in 1986.
Ruth is survived by her husband: Albert of Oshkosh; three sons: Dale (Barbara) Starrett of Orinda, California; Jack (Bobbi) Starrett of Oshkosh; Jay (Edie) Starrett of Wawautosa; five grandchildren: Jennifer, Michelle, Sydny, Lindsey, and Olivia.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Jean Meixl; two brothers-in-law: Earl Meixl and Fred Starrett; two sisters-in-law: Nellie and Catherine Starrett; her stepmother: Pat Washburn; and one stepsister: Joan Sweet.
Memorial funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 110 Church Ave., with Reverend Thomas Willadsen officiating. Ruth's family request that memorials in her memory be made to First Presbyterian Church or to First Presbyterian Preschool.
