Ruth E. Van Stone, age 92, died early Monday morning, September 28, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, following a short illness. She was born December 6, 1916 in Omaha, NE the daughter of Edward and Annis (Vickery) Bolton. Ruth married Donald Van Stone on September 27, 1941. Together they had three children. Ruth had a quest for learning. This was evidenced by the years she attended college. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and volunteer work.

Ruth is loved and will be missed by her children, Ruth (Ken) Cady of Wisconsin, Donald (Lynn) Van Stone of Massachusetts, David (Cindy) Van Stone of Ohio; grandchildren, Donald Cady, Steve Cady, Susan Van Stone, Nancy Van Stone, Steve Van Stone, David Ryan Van Stone and Meagan Van Stone; great grandchildren, Montana, Gage, Katarina, Brian, Blake, Aiden, Emily and Kira; brother Stanley (Mary Ellen) Bolton; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and sisters, Katherine Carr and Margaret Seymour.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Santa Maria Cemetery. Memorials in Ruth's name may be directed to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 56, Attn: Girls State, P.O. Box 13, Santa Maria, CA 93456.
