Sandra Ann "Sandy" Putman, age 78, of Oshkosh, died Sunday evening, July 16, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center. Born on September 4, 1938, in Normal, Illinois, the daughter of Cecil and Margaret (Schad) Miles, Sandy married Gerald "Jerry" Putman on September 4, 1962, in Oshkosh.
A Social Worker in Winnebago County with the Help Line and later a Private Councilor, Sandy was very involved in helping those in need. She was a long-time member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and part of the Renewal Group, an Associate with the Sisters of St. Agnes in Fond du Lac, did volunteer tutoring at the prison, was a water color artist who enjoyed time spent gardening, reading, caring for her pets, and life on Lake Winnebago. With all that, the most important time was with her loving family.
Survivors include her loving husband, Jerry Putman of Oshkosh; two adored daughters, Julie (Michael Yonkers) Putman of Brookfield, Wisconsin, and Jenifer (David) Waite of Morton Grove, Illinois; four special grandchildren, Gabriel (Katie) Putman, Katie (Ricky) Olney, Sara (Ryan) Grego, and David L. Waite; one great-grandson, Lucas Olney; a sister, Mary Kaufman; a brother, Tom (Cindy) Miles; and nieces and nephews. Preceding Sandy in death are her parents, a daughter, Victoria Putman, and a brother, John Miles.
