Obituary

Sarah L. Thums, age 79, of Waukau, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, after an eight year battle with cancer. She was born in Waukau, on August 27, 1929, to Leon and Lydia (Schroeder) Becker. She went to grade school in Waukau, then graduated from Omro High School. She married Elmer Thums at St. Vincent Catholic Church, in Oshkosh, on November 27, 1949. Sarah loved spending time and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing and gardening. Her flower and rose garden were lovingly tended. She will best be remembered for her baking, her biscuits were the best, and she could always be counted on to bake pies for the Waukau Youth Center.

Sarah was loved and will be missed by her husband, Elmer of Waukau; sons, Norman (Gloria) of Savannah, GA, Roger of Waukau, Dennis of Milwaukee, Ron of Black River Falls; her daughter, Carol Thums of Omro; her ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and son in law, Gilbert Juedes; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Juedes; her parents, Leon and Lydia Becker; brothers, Raymond, Burton, Lucius, Harry and Robert; and sister, Dora.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 27, 2009 from 4 - 8 p.m. and at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave, Omro, on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Joseph Mattern and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Sarah will be laid to rest at the Waukau Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Karen Gremminger and staff for the years of care. A memorial is being established.
