Obituary

On the 20th of January, Sharla M. Jensen, age 72, was called home to eternal rest. She was born Sharla Stratton on July 13, 1940 in Lansing, MI to Donald and Anna Stratton. Sharla would meet her future husband, Elmer "Bud" Jensen when her parents lived in Fond du Lac.

"Bud" met Sharla (also known as Shar) while delivering ice cream to her parents' home and at age 16, Sharla accepted his proposal for marriage. They were married 52 years until Buds passing in 2009. While Bud and Sharla never had any of their own children, they opened up their home to many nieces and nephews who became their own beloved and cherished "children".

Sharla Jensen began her career at age 18 with Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac until her retirement at age 63 years of age.

Sharla and Bud were longtime residents of Omro, WI.

Sharla's favorite activities included traveling, fishing and home decorating. Sharla was also an avid reader. James Patterson and Nora Roberts were among her favorite authors. She was also a collector of Murano glass and Thomas Kinkade artwork.

In 2008, Sharla and Bud became residents of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. Sharla is survived by one brother, James Stratton, also a resident of the Wisconsin Veterans home. Sharla is also survived by nieces and nephews, Sabina (Terry) Wyckoff, Christine (Abul) Azad, Michael (Debra) Czarnecki, Jon (Stephanie) Czarnecki, Jenny (Andy) Jerrett, Donyell (William) Koller, Jr., Sharla (Jeremy) Rymer, Jamie (Melissa) Stratton, Katie (Ron) Peters, Karen Jensen, Ken Jensen, Kim Spoerl, Fred Jorgensen, Marc Jorgensen, Susan Jansen, and Jeanette King. She is preceded in death by one brother, Jonathan "JD" and one sister, Mary, one niece, Shauna Vance, and one nephew, Gerald King.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Wayne Schwanke officiating. Sharla will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
