Shirley A. Dailey, nee Silverthorn, age 88, passed away at home with her loving family by her side on Sunday, January 14, 2018. She was born in the Town of Rushford on January 10, 1930, the daughter of the late Harold and Harriett (Rank) Silverthorn. Shirley attended West School, graduated from Omro High School in 1947, and also attended UW-Oshkosh. On April 11, 1953 she married Donald Dailey at St. Mary Catholic Church, Omro. She worked at Walter Scott Market, was a Lynotype operator at the Omro Herald, was a lab technician at Winnebago County D.H.I.A., and a teacher's aide with the Oshkosh Area School System. Shirley enjoyed line dancing, working in the yard, volunteering, going out to eat, and the occasional trip to the casino. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, and never asking for anything in return.
Shirley is survived by her children: Darlene (Greg) Pasch, DuWayne (Jodi) Dailey and Dan (Denise Winek) Dailey; grandchildren: Rachel (Scott) Davis-Krebs and their children: Ethan, Sophia and Autumn; Jeremy (Michele) Davis and their daughter, Alayna; Alex, Rebecca and Ryan; and Jonathan and Nathan Dailey; brother, Bernie (Phyllis) Silverthorn; sister, Audrey Rolph; brother and sisters-in-law: James Dailey, Phyllis (Tom) Hutte, Jean (Jerry) Schneider, and John (Barbara) Dailey; and survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, Harold and Harriett Silverthorn; and brother, Frank Silverthorn.
A visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the mass at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh. Burial will be at a later date in Omro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given, in Shirley's name, to her education scholarship fund for Omro High School.
