Obituary

Shirley Ann Hintz, age 80, of Oshkosh, died peacefully early Sunday morning, January 8, 2017 at her residence with her husband by her side. Shirley was born April 30, 1936, in Texas, the daughter of Theodore Henry and Lena Alma (Eickenhorst) Wager. She moved to Oshkosh as a young lady and married Jerry Hintz in 1957. Jerry died in 1975. Shirley had worked as a secretary at Texas A & M University for a while and then later worked at a job she loved as a waitress. She subsequently married the love of her life, Lyell Hintz. They married in Michigan on October 10, 2014. Shirley was a world class dancer and taught many students while working with the Arthur Murray group. In 1985 she was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma, lung cancer. Her doctors did not give her much hope of survival, but, she showed them and everyone else just how fiercely resilient and independent she was. Shirley loved dancing, golfing, playing cards, family gatherings, fishing, and 4th of July celebrations at Pearl Lake in Redgranite and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed motor homing and driving her motorhome while towing her car behind. Shirley is loved and will be missed by her husband, Lyell Hintz of Oshkosh; her sons with Jerry Hintz, Brian (Donna) Hintz, Jeff Hintz; and daughter in law, Ann Hintz. her grandchildren, Amanda, Emily, Michael and Jacob; great granddaughter, Rosalie Noelle; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jerry; and son, Sam. Sam passed away in 2012 while she was in the hospital undergoing surgery while having a mass removed from her lung. Shirley was extremely proud of her children and was delighted to say that all of them have, had long successful professional careers.
