Obituary

Shirley J. Michels, age 86, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday morning, October 21, 2014, at Allouez Parkside Village in Green Bay. Born on December 6, 1927, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Henry and Hilda (Luebke) Hanneman, Shirley married Thomas W. Michels in Oshkosh on October 2, 1948, and he preceded her in death on June 21, 1998.
A life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shirley was devoted to her family, raising seven children, who in return, made Shirley a very proud grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her children, Sue (Joe) Baier of Milwaukee, Kathy (Paul Landig) Skoglind of Omro, Bill (Carol) Michels of Green Valley, Arizona, Barb (John) Skoglind of Waupaca, Bob (Lori) Michels of Seattle, Washington, Judy (Ed) Kass of Maribel, Wisconsin, and Joan (Bret) Keffeler of Phoenix, Arizona; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Julaine Hanneman; and nieces and nephews. Preceding Shirley in death is her husband, a sister, Elaine Hotchkiss, and a brother, Eugene Hanneman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 338 N. Eagle Street, with Reverend David Pagel officiating. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. A memorial to Shirley's memory is being established by her family.
