Shirley Ann Stark of Oshkosh died at Mercy Medical Center on Saturday, March 19, 2011. She was born to Earl and Ethel (Skidmore) Newton on November 26, 1927. On June 28, 1952 she married Ervin C. Stark. They enjoyed 34 years together until his death on August 14, 1986. For the last few years she has been living with her dear sister, Eileen Steiner.
A lover of music, Shirley loved to dance and taught at the Arthur Murray Dance School on Main Street. She also worked as a waitress at Jess & Nick's. She excelled in compassion and showed great empathy to her patients while she was a nurse's aid at Mercy Medical Center. After retirement her compassion continued as she worked in home health care.
Surviving Shirley are her daughters, Coleen (Jim) Jakl and Carla (Lenny) Messal; grandchildren, Kirk James Stark and Jason Jon Peterson; sister, Eileen Steiner; and several nieces and nephews. She is further survived by her dear friends: Martha Johnson, Elaine "Petie" Schulz, Edie Button, Midge Werba; adopted grandson, Patrick Peterson; and many of the dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her siblings: Milton and Robert Newton and Betty Gregor; and her sweet cat, Lily.
Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 25, 2011 at Lake View Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd. A time of visiting for sharing memories and support will be held at the cemetery on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
