Obituary

Spencer John Dagenais passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 7, 2016. Spencer was born on March 30, 1999 in Escanaba, Michigan. He was a kind, humble, fun-loving young man cherished by his family, friends, teachers, and co-workers. He had a wry sense of humor, a rich imagination, a generous spirit, a knack for performance, and a courageous personal style. His infectious energy, creative ideas, sparkling blue eyes, and striking red hair combined to create an imposing presence commemorated by the family nickname King Spencer the Red.Spencer met life's challenges with strength and grace. He was a talented computer technologist who built gaming PCs. He enjoyed learning German, he was an artful cooker of eggs, and he loved being outdoors at his family cottage and grandparent's house on Lake Michigan. As a child Spencer played fantastic imaginary games with sticks that translated to a fascination with drumming as he grew older. He shared with his family a love of music, and he was a faithful fan of the band Green Day. He loved his cats, all things Star Wars, the color red, and in true Wisconsin fashion, he was passionate about the Green Bay Packers.Spencer and his family moved to Orlando in 2007. Spencer decided there to grow his hair long into what he called "Florida style." He stood out in the crowd when he returned to Michigan to attend Escanaba Area Public Junior High School. In the summer of 2010 he travelled to New York City to perform in the Broadway Junior production of "Annie." He performed in Players De Noc Theater Company's 2011 production of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." He developed his interest in percussion while in junior high.Spencer attended Oshkosh West High School joining the freshman Wildcat Band where he received the drumline award for time and effort. He advanced to the Sophomore Concert Band and Junior Varsity Band performing in parades and concerts. One of his fondest memories was travelling to Disney World's Magic Kingdom to perform with the OWHS marching band. Spencer's membership in the OWHS Marching Band Drum Line was central to his high school experience. He began work at Fox River Brewing Company in Oshkosh in the summer of 2014 and quickly advanced to Head Server Assistant.
