Stephen J. Velie, age 49, of Neenah, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 9, 2005. He was born on April 11, 1956 in Oshkosh, a son of James and Irene (Karban) Velie.
Steve has been married since 1980 to Sharon L. Velie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Velie. Along with his wife, he will be missed by his father, James Velie, sisters, Patricia (Ethan) Runkle, Sally (Donald) Rasmussen and brother, Stanley (Kathy) Velie all of Oshkosh; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judith (David) Stadtmueller of Ripon, Dawn (Corey) Dobbs of Hatley, Wisconsin, Richard (Susan) Dillman and Brain Dillman both of Oshkosh, Bruce Dillman of Waupaca, Daniel (Sarah) Dillman of Edgerton, Robert (Patti) Dillman of Wittenburg; step-children, George (Jennifer) Hansen of Madison, Adam (Josie) Benkers of Cottage Grove; and step-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Gabriel Benkers. His very good friends, Jim and Donna Brotske of Oshkosh mourn his loss. He is also remembered by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Steve graduated from Oshkosh West High School. He had worked for 19 years at Oshkosh Truck Corporation. He retired in 1998.
A service of remembrance and celebration for Steve will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 15th, at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, the Rev. John Bridges officiating. A time of visitation and support will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday. Steve will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
