Steven Dean Lenz passed away at home on September 22, 2026 in Omro, WI.
Steve or Steven are names that were rarely used by friends, family and almost all that knew him. He was crowned with the name “Louie” by close friends dating back to his school days.
Louie was born in Oshkosh, WI on May 29, 1951 to parents Theodore and Evelyn (Bixby) Lenz.
He is survived by his wife, Alana Lenz; children, Kayla Lenz (Marc Roberts) and Eric Lenz; grandchildren, Erica Lenz, Ehren Lenz, Elaina Lenz, Karter Thomas, Karsen Thomas, Hunter Ingels and Parker Ingels; sister, Joyce (James) Thomas; niece, Janet (Jay) Treleven; and best friend Mark (Wendy) Krings.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Theodore and Evelyn; daughter, Krista Lenz; and brother, Richard (Judy) Lenz; niece, Julie (Tom) Palmer; and nephew, Mike Lenz.
Louie’s passion for sports throughout his entire life earned him yet another name. Coach Lenz. He committed 17 years to Omro High School and the boys basketball program as the freshman coach. He was an integral member of the varsity staff under Spencer Rolph bringing Omro their first WIAA boys basketball state championship in school history in 1997.
Old Lou had a heart of gold and truly cared about the community as he touched the lives of many. His commitment to excellence and teaching youth was passed onto his children further reaching his grandchildren. The highlight of his life was attending all 7 of his grandchildren’s sporting events with his wife Alana.

A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 5355 Co Rd K, Oshkosh, WI, on Friday, October 2, 2026. Visitation will be held from 9am to 12pm and services to immediately follow.
He will be buried at Omro Junction Cemetery following services.
