Reverend Deacon Susan Ann (Laurent) Coenen, age 75, of Oshkosh, died on June 26, 2024. Susan was born on March 16, 1949, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Robert Louis Laurent and Annabelle Lorraine (Budd) Laurent. She grew up in Oshkosh, graduating from Oshkosh High School in 1967 with High Honors.
Susan sang in A Capella Choir under the direction of Dr. Fredrick Leist and traveled to Europe to perform with the choir and the Concert band in June 1967.
Susan graduated from Fox Valley Technical Institute in December 1980 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She worked for 30 years as a Registered Nurse before retiring.
Along the way, Susan enjoyed her hobby of photography and sports and developed an interest in vintage glassware. She liked to travel, visiting Arizona and the Sedona area frequently.
She loved her animals, having cats and dogs for her entire life. She decided to take up camping vacations in the Northwoods with her dogs, starting in 1999.
Later in life, Susan answered the call to serve the Lord. She studied to be a deacon in the Episcopal Church and was ordained on August 27, 2005.
Susan was a breast cancer survivor (1997) and had a lung transplant in 2012. Throughout her health issues, she kept her faith and positive outlook on life. She was grateful for her many blessings.
Susan is survived by her brothers, Paul (Kathy) and Dave (Shelly) Laurent; nieces, Amber Laurent, Lisa (Andy) Lloyd and Nicole (Kevin) McNiesh. She is further survived by great-nieces, Emily (Alec) Baullosa, Bryanna Laurent and McKenna Lloyd; great-nephews, Brandon Laurent, Jaxen Lloyd, Westin Lloyd and Wyatt McNiesh; and great-great niece, Eliza Baullosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; aunts; uncles; cousins, Greg and Tobey; nephew, Scott Laurent and many beloved pets.
Funeral Mass with Celebration of Holy Eucharist for Susan will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 311 division St., Oshkosh, on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, celebrated by Bishop Matthew Gunter and Fr Chris Corbin, with visitation at 9:00am until the time of the service at 10:30am.
Burial/ Committal will be at Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society, Trinity Episcopal Church, to her family or it would honor her to sign up to be an organ donor.
