Obituary
Susan "Sue" Rae (Schlaak) Zuhlke. Age 83, passed away on September 30, 2025, in Oshkosh, WI with her family by her side. She was born on May 2, 1942, to parents, Raymond and Jeanette (Wohlt) Schlaak, in WI.
She went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Duane Robert Zuhlke on November 22, 1958, in Oshkosh, WI. Together, they had five children and were united until his passing in 2006.
Sue worked for many years at Miles Kimball until her retirement at age 65. After retirement, she missed helping others and went back to work part-time at the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office as a cook.
In her free time, she enjoyed reading, collecting bibles and jewelry, growing and tending to her plants and flowers, listening to Christian music and spending time with her family, friends and several beloved dogs. Her favorite time of year to celebrate was the Easter Holiday- when Christ has risen. Sue also enjoyed cooking-especially her legendary baked beans. She will be remembered for being kind, loving, compassionate and genuine.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Gessert and Deanna (Frederick) Rothe; grandchildren, Adam, Cody, Austin, Christy (Connor), Matthew, Kelsie and Marleigh; siblings, Bonnie (Terry) Lewis, Dennis (Tracie) Schlaak, Dawn (John H.) DeVoe, Jeff (Denise) Schlaak and Tonya (John) Schulz; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Duane Zuhlke; infant son, Matthew; sons, Jay and Kelly Zuhlke; grandson, Kyle Gessert; and parents, Raymond and Jeanette Schlaak.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon St., Oshkosh, WI, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with service to start at 2:00 pm sharp. Online condolences can be left at the Seefeld Funeral Home website.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her honor.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bella Vista, Bethel and Compassus Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
