Thelma J. Smoot, age 75, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday morning April 28, 2015, at Aurora Medical Center. Born on May 26, 1939, in Oshkosh, to Kenneth and Ethlyn (Ganzer) Swisher, Thelma was a graduate of Oshkosh High School. She later married Lee Smoot who preceded her in death.
Employed by the Omro Care Center as a Certified Nurse's Assistant, Thelma later work at Leach Corporation and was a part-time employee for the 4 Imprint Company before her retirement. Thelma was a Winneconne Cub Scouts Den Mother, enjoyed playing the piano, craftwork, dancing, and a good game of cribbage.
Survivors include two sons, Benjamin Smoot of Oshkosh and Brian (Jill) Smoot of Neenah; grandchildren, Brett Smoot and Jennifer Smoot; a brother, Paul (Darla) Swisher of Waupaca; two nephews, Scott Swisher and Michael Swisher; and great-nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Thelma will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.seefeldfuneral.com.
