Thomas Bickford, age 96, of Oshkosh, formerly of Waukegan, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at Bethel Home. He was born on April 13, 1908 in Liverpool, England, a son of the late Thomas C. and Annie (Laylee) Bickford.
He attended and graduated from the University of Toronto and had worked for several years in Canada before joining British Petroleum. Thomas served in the British Army during WWII and when discharged, had the rank of Major. He married Magdaline Popoff in 1959. She preceded him in death in 2000. Thomas had also lived in Waukegan, Illinois for over 20 years.
He is survived by a son, Thomas J. Bickford of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; three nieces, Susan (Thomas) Burpee of Montreal, Wendy Dray and Julie Dray, both of Liverpool, England. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Elsie, Ann, Edith and Marian.
A memorial service will be held in memory of Thomas on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. at the home of his son, Thomas J. at 829 N. Main Street, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the home just prior to the service. Cremation will take place and interment will be in the family burial plot in Liverpool, England at a later date.
