Thomas A. Dodd, age 63, of Oshkosh, died unexpectedly Friday evening, July 20, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on September 28, 1954, in Pickett, the son of Arthur and Betty Jane (Shaner) Dodd. Tom was employed by Morgan Door for many years. He was a giving individual, volunteering for Special Olympics working as a cart-man at Country USA, and with EAA security during the airshows.
Always active, Tom enjoyed time spent fishing for catfish and walleyes, duck hunting, an annual Minnesota ice-fishing trip, sturgeon spearing with Dave Miller, gardening, and sitting in his "man cave" where he fixed or repaired almost anything. Earlier in Tom's life, he was employed by a funeral home in Texas, were he was known to say "deal direct – no middleman" when it came to religious services.
Survivors include his three children, Thomas Frank Dodd, Butch Patrick (friend, Rachel) Dodd, and Jacquelyn Ann (Joseph) Harrington; their mother, Christine Surprise; a loved granddaughter, Jesslyn; his step-children, John (Laura DeLap) Galston Jr., Brian Galston, and Katie Galston; 10 step-grandchildren, who Tom loved endlessly; his siblings, Debra Dodd, Michael (Julie) Dodd, and Lori (Ronald) Berry; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Tom in death is his wife, Julie Dodd; his parents; a brother, Jeffrey Dodd; and his best friend, David "Cowboy" Hodges.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. Interment will follow the services at Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
