Vera I. Schmude, age 95, of Omro, passed away at the Omro Care Center on Sunday afternoon, December 4, 2005. She was born to Peter and Elizabeth (Zindler) Loewen in Oshkosh on March 31, 1910. She attended school in Oshkosh. On May 24, 1941, she married Roland Schmude in Winneconne; they made their home in Omro. Family and friends will recall how Vera enjoyed gardening, embroidery and her family. Throughout the years, she had worked at the Deltox Rug Company, Raulf Hotel, Athern Hotel, University of Oshkosh Cafeteria and worked many years at the Omro Motel. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Omro.

Vera is survived by her children, Margaret Hoernke of Oshkosh, David K. Schmude of Tomah, and Bernice (Kenneth) Amundson of Omro; her grandchildren, Harold (Mary) Hoernke of Neenah, Faith Miller of Omro, Diana (Jim) Ludwig of Omro, Jeffrey Amundson of Fond du Lac, Brian Amundson of Baraboo, Timothy Amundson of Van Dyne and Lynnette (Bob) Eckstein of Omro; 20 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren; her sister Rita (John) Pennau of Oshkosh; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; grandson, Michael Amundson, and sisters, Jane DeHut, Germaine Faulk, and Patricia McGothlin.

Visitation will be held at the Omro Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and then again on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Joseph Mattern officiating. Vera will be laid to rest in Omro Junction Cemetery.
