Verna Jones, age 96, of Omro, passed away Sunday evening, December 19, 2010 at Aurora Medical Center. Verna was born June 23, 1914, in Manawa, WI, the daughter of Albert and Hattie Voss. She had attended Oshkosh Normal and received her teaching degree. Verna had taught as a teacher, substitute teacher, and Piano teacher in the lower grades in the Omro School System for many years. Verna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Omro and had directed the choir for many years. She married Raymond F. Jones in Oshkosh on July 6, 1940. Raymond preceded her in death on November 21, 1992

Verna is survived by her step-children, Gayland (Beverly) Jones of Omro and Marilyn (Marvin) Stark of Ripon. She is further survived by many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, a step great great grandson, other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step daughter, Betty Hoffmann and her brother, William Voss.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Verna will be laid to rest in the Omro Cemetery.
