Vernon M. Neitzke, age 83, of Oshkosh, died Friday afternoon, October 25, 2013, at Bethel Home. Born on July 6, 1930, in the Town of Aurora, to Walter and Freida (Krueger) Neitzke, Vernon married Ramona Jorgensen on June 4, 1955.
Employed by Oshkosh Truck as an assembler until his retirement on October 1, 1992, he was a member of UAW Local 578. Vernon was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed time spent with family, camping, traveling, reading, TV watching, and woodworking.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Ramona; two sons, David (Renee) Neitzke of Eureka and Kevin (Teri) Neitzke of Berlin; five grandson, Lucas (Alesha), Matthew (Jamie), and Joshua (Krystal) Neitzke; Alex (Nani) and Zach Ristow; six great-grandchildren, Lakai, Lex, Jordan, Jackson, Ava, and Austin; two siblings, Arlene Gade of Oshkosh and Gordon (Marion) Neitzke of Panama City Beach, Florida; and two sisters-in-law, Shelby Jorgensen of Boise, Idaho, and Gwen (Don) Leifheit of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Preceding Vernon in death are his parents and three brothers, Elmer, Harold, and Hilbert Neitzke.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 913 Nebraska Street, with Reverend Jeffrey Duquaine officiating. Interment will take place at Ellenwood Cemetery. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Monday from 2:00 until service time at the church.
