Obituary

Verona "Skeeter" Ratzburg, age 85, passed away at her home sweet home, the Heartland House in Wautoma, on Sunday, April 3, 2005. She was born in Oshkosh on February 12, 1920 to Christian and Magdeline (Hammerly) Ternes. On August 3, 1944 she married John Ratzburg, who died on April 16, 1976.
Verona and John operated Skeeter's Bar in Gleason, Oshkosh, and Wautoma. In 1975 she retired in Wautoma. In 1977 she moved to Oshkosh to be with her sister Margaret. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and belonged to the Women of Zion, Young at Heart, and the Ladies Card Club. She always wanted to help people until she got sick herself.
Verona is survived by her son, John "Jack" (Ruth) Ratzburg of Wautoma; stepson, Wayne (Delores) Ratzburg of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren: Tracey (Peter) Franchi of New Jersey and Trevor (Shana) Ratzburg of Janesville; and great-grandchildren: Taylor & Cole and Ty Franchi, and Mason and Bailey Ratzburg. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews. Verona was preceded in death by brother, John Ternes; sisters, Mary Lautenschlager and Margaret Paffenroth; and half-brothers, Art and Alvin Ternes.
Funeral services for Verona will be held on at 11:00 A.M., on Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Zion Lutheran Church, 400 North Sawyer, Reverend Gerald Nerenhausen officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church for visiting and support from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial is being established.
