Viola M. Ryf, age 94 of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, February 28, 2007 at Park View Health Center-Pleasant Acres. She was born on April 10, 1912 in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late Edward and Minnie (Warnke) Baier. Viola married Alfred H. Ryf on July 11, 1942 and together they enjoyed 64 years of wonderful memories.


Viola was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a Charter Member of Bethel Home Inc. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a former sales clerk for Grant's Department Store.


Survivors include her husband, Alfred Ryf; a daughter, Fay (Gary) Egnoski of Oshkosh; two sons, Bruce (Beverly) Ryf of Oshkosh and Phillip (Kathy) Ryf of Green Bay; nine grandchildren, Ty, Craig, Becky, Lisa, Nicholas, Kayla, Amanda, Kalena, and Kara; 7 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edna (Robert) Waters, Doris (Herbert) Behnke, and Delores (Don) Robinson; one brother, LeRoy (Corlene) Baier; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Viola in death are her parents and two brothers, Harold and Erich Baier.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1206 Ontario Street, with Reverend Paul Lidtke officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visitation and support will be held on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials in Viola's memory are requested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. To the 1st floor nursing staff of Pleasant Acres, a special thank you, for the loving care given to Viola.
