Obituary

Virginia R. (Cundy) Akstulewicz, Age 74, of Redgranite, died peacefully at home, after a brave battle with cancer on Thursday, March 5, 2009, with her husband of 54 years at her side. She was born on February 9, 1935, in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late Harry and Geneva (Moon) Cundy, Sr. She graduated from Omro High School in June of 1954, and then married Marvin L. Akstulewicz on August 14, 1954, at the Omro Baptist Church. Virginia worked in the food service industry for Zaug¡¦s Vending & Catering for 20 years, then for the Neenah Joint School District at Horace Mann Jr. High and Shattuck Middle School for 30 years until her retirement. She spent many hours bird-watching, especially hummingbirds and also feeding all of Redgranite¡¦s wildlife in her large country yard. Virginia enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas with her husband, hosting large family reunions and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Marvin; daughter, Tina (Dennis) Rockey; son, Larry (Melanie) Akstulewicz; granddaughters, AngieLyn Rockey and Bridgett (Brandon, Sr.) Mitchell; grandson, Christopher (financeƒUƒV Allison Herr) Rockey; great grandsons, Dylan Rockey, Brandon, Jr. and James Mitchell; god-sons, Benjamin (April) Downs and Richard (Debbie) Hernandez and god-daughter, Susan (Ken) Mason. She is further survived by brother, Harry (Belva) Cundy Jr., Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Laverne Cundy, Oshkosh; Donna Cundy, Missouri; Karen Miller, Neenah; Margaret (Midge) Akstulewicz, Leopolis and brother-in-law, David (Rachel) Akstulewicz, Georgia. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father in-law, Walter and Harriet (Garrow) Akstulewicz Sr., sisters, Vivian (Reed) Whitemarsh, Viola (Wesley) Downs; brothers, John and Duane Cundy, George (Alice) Cundy; brothers in-law, Walter Akstulewicz Jr., and Charles Miller. A private burial is planned.
The family would like to extend their thanks to St. Agnes Hospice who assisted Marvin in caring for Virginia during the last months of her life.
