Obituary

Virginia June Berry, age 95, of Oshkosh, died at Evergreen-Sharehaven on Sunday morning, May 3, 2015. She was born in Berlin, Wisconsin, on May 25, 1919, to the late Alfred and Florence (Fink) Schroeder. On September 25, 1937, she married Paul Lee Berry at Algoma Boulevard Methodist Church in Oshkosh. They lived and raised their children in Oshkosh all of their married life.
Virginia was a very easy-going stay-at-home wife and mother until her children were older. She then went to work at the Diamond Match Company in Oshkosh for a few years so that some much needed remodeling could be done to their home. She worked nights so that her husband could be home with the children while she worked. She and her husband built and operated the Lakeland Motel in Oshkosh, as well as the Lakeland Restaurant which they built next door. They eventually sold the business to retire, and then wintered in Florida.
Virginia enjoyed golfing, fishing trips to Canada, crocheting, and sewing. She also loved dancing and often danced with her children in her kitchen. She was a loving wife and Mother, and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are three children: Shirley (Earl) Nicolaisen of Oshkosh, Richard (Judith) Berry of Pine River, and Donna (Roger) Gruska of Oshkosh. She is further survived by six grandchildren: Vicky (Mark) Wenzel, Chris (Tracy) Galica, Rick (Sue) Berry, Connie (Paul) Duebler, Mark (Kathy) Molus, and Lisa (John) Burke; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great, great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Her husband of 68 years, parents, and all of her siblings preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Seefeld Funeral Home, with Chaplain Jim Wehrheim officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh, immediately following the service.
Virginia's family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the caring staff at Evergreen-Sharehaven North as well as to the nurses of Affinity Hospice.
