Virginia E. Formiller, age 90, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at her residence. She was born May 18, 1917, the daughter of William and Anna (Steinfort) Sipple. She married Albert "Bert" Formiller on December 5, 1941 in Omro. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1971. Virginia had taught 7th & 8th grade Social Studies in Omro until her retirement.
Virginia and her husband owned a dairy farm in the Town of Omro. She had B.S. and M.S. degrees in education from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. A dedicated teacher with a love for her students, she taught 39 years, the majority at Omro Junction and at Omro Public Schools.
She was a life-long member of St. MaryÂ's Catholic Church, Omro, and was active in West Homemakers Club, Omro Retired Teachers, her bridge club, and until recently, Omro Study Club. An avid reader, she had a penchant for the political scene of the times and the Green Bay Packers.
Virginia is survived by her children, John (Sandra) Formiller of Oak Park, IL, and
Dr. Marianne (Dr. Tom) Ivey of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Dr. Bert (Meilyn) Ivey, Brooke Ivey; great grandson, Thomas Ivey; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
In respect to VirginiaÂ's memory, visitation will be (TODAY) Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Omro Funeral Home from 4-8 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at St. MaryÂ's Catholic Church, 233 E. Scott St., Omro, from 10 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. with Rev. Joseph Mattern and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
