Virginia M. Norton, age 82, of Neenah, died Wednesday evening, March 10, 2004 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. She was born on November 30, 1921 in Waukau to Herbert and Irma (Palfrey) Minckler. Virginia was united in marriage to Oscar Sam Norton in November of 1947 at First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh and he preceded Virginia in death on January 18, 2001.
Virginia was employed at Winnebago County Mental Health Institute until her retirement. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester/Larsen. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed flower gardens.
Survivors include one daughter: Cynthia Cindy Norton of Neenah; one son: Daniel Norton of Neenah; one grandson: Jason (Paula) Popp of Neenah; two great-grandchildren: Ethan and Leah Popp; three sisters: Marjorie Borgardt and Ardyne Shea both of Oshkosh; Helen Doll of Madison; two brothers: Leon (Ena) Minckler of West Allis; Charles Minckler of King, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Virginia in death are her husband and parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 15, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, with Reverend Clarence Harmes officiating. Interment will follow services at Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the funeral chapel on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
