Virginia M. Rohan, age 88, of Omro, died Saturday evening, June 5, 2010, at the Omro Care Center. She was born in Omro on July 12, 1921, the daughter of Henry and Caroline (Kren) Bartels. Virginia was educated at the Howe School (walking uphill both ways) and was a graduate of Omro High School. She later attended and graduated from the Appleton Beauty School. Virginia married Pat J. Rohan on February 14, 1942, at St. Mary Church in Omro. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1999. Virginia was born and raised on the homestead farm which was in the family for over 100 years. She and her husband also farmed it for many years. In addition to working on the farm with her husband, Virginia also worked at Miles Kimball for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed ceramics and painting, playing cards and dancing, working crossword puzzles and going on trips to the casino.
Virginia is survived by her children, Eugene (Janniece) Rohan of Omro, Robert (Michelle) Rohan of Omro, Patti (Stan) Palecek of Wild Rose and Peggy (Jim) Davis of Pickett; grandchildren, Doug Rohan, Debbie (Scott) Wagner, Dawn Rohan, Deanna Rohan, Nicole (Tom) Dobberstein, Trista (Ryan) Rahn, Erin (Jeff) Lang, Amy Palecek and fiancé Jeff Hill, Kyle (Amanda) Palecek, Jim Davis and Julie Davis; great grandchildren, Ian and Ty Dobberstein, Payton and Keenan Rahn, Allison and Kaitlyn Wagner; brothers and sisters in laws, Arnie and Rena Mae Heiman, Kenneth and Ruth Rohan, Jayne Rohan and Jean Dieck; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, brothers, Kenneth Bartels, Eugene Bartels; and sister, Dorothy Schroeder.
In respect to Virginia's memory, the family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro, from 8:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jason Blahnik and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband at Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh.
The family would like to thank the staff at Omro Care Center, the Dialysis Center at Mercy Medical Center, and Jennifer and staff at Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care given to Virginia and the rest of the family.
