Walter R. "Wally" Streich, age 79 of Oshkosh, died at Aurora Medical Center on Sunday, March 02, 2008. He was born March 26, 1928 the son of John and Louisa (Ristow) Streich. On July 3, 1948 he married Janet Winter at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.

Wally was a quiet man who loved to fish, hunt and be with his family. When he was young he was a violinist. He was a member of, and past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans in Oshkosh; a member of the American Legion; and a life-long member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Wally worked for many years as an office manager for John Mathwig and Sons, and then for the Leach Company.

Wally is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet Streich; children: Gary (Maureen) Streich, Sandra (Dennis) Holloway, Jackie Schoening, Jill (Edward) Bowe, and Timmy (Laura) Streich; grandchildren: Tina, Chad, Adam, Stacy, Emily, Abbey, Brittany, Andrea, Joseph, and Molly; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Jacob; and one sister. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services for Wally will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visiting and sharing of memories at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Interment will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery where Military Honors will be given. Condolences may be given online at www.seefeldfuneral.com.
