Ward L. Loker, age 98, of Omro, passed away early Saturday morning, December 15, 2012 at Park View Health Center. He was born January 19, 1914, the son of Harry and De Alta (Lee) Loker. Ward married Katherine "Pearl" Beck on April 17, 1946 and they lived happily together for 57 years. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2003. Ward lived his entire life in the Omro area and owned two farms, actively farming until the age of 65. He was very active in community affairs with the Town of Rushford, serving as Town Constable for a number of years. Ward also served on the Bell School Board and was actively involved in the Auxiliary Police for 30 years, and was a member of the Omro Rushford Fire Dept. for over 50 years.
Ward is loved and will be missed by his son, DuWayne (Linda) Loker of Oshkosh; two grandchildren, Jason (Lori) Loker and Megan (Dennis) McClellan; great grandchildren, Kai and Fallon, who fondly called him "Pappa Cookie"; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Pearl and sister, Iona Loker.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Anita Genrich officiating. Ward will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Omro Cemetery.
