Obituary

Wilbur H. Arendt, age 87, of Sarasota, Florida, and formerly of Oshkosh, died Saturday evening, August 23, 2008 at Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, Florida. He was born on January 30, 1921 in Marshfield, Wisconsin to Emil and Martha (Beer) Arendt. Wilbur married Virginia M. Rosenau on August 4, 1945 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Oshkosh. Virginia preceded Wilbur in death in July of 1992.


Wilbur was a 1939 Marshfield High School graduate and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church before moving to Florida. He was 30+ year employee of Rockwell International, working in the shipping department. During WWII, Wilbur served in the U.S. Navy until his discharge on January 22, 1945. He was a member of the Cook-Fuller American Legion Post # 70 and a member of the Wisconsin LST with Florida affiliate. Wilbur enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, bingo, and traveling.


Left to remember his kindness and sense of humor are his three daughters: Vicki Molinski and Kristi (Ron) Hadam both of Sarasota, Florida, and Jackie (Gary) Radig of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren; Amy Molinski, Jeff (Annie) Molinski, Kim Radig, Karla Radig, Lori Voth, and Lindsey (finance' Jeremy Rolinski) Voth.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in Lake View Memorial Park Chapel, 2786 Algoma Blvd., with Reverend Martin Ruge officiating. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Friday from 12 Noon to 1:00p.m. at the cemetery chapel. Wilbur will be laid to rest next to his wife, Virginia, in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238, in Wilbur's memory.
