William "Willie" Robert Jenkins, age 64, of Oshkosh, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 after a long courageous battle with cancer caused by Agent Orange in South Vietnam. Born August 8, 1946, the son of Robert and Sigrid (Eckman) Jenkins, Bill proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He served one and a half years in the Philippines and did a year tour of duty on the rivers in South Vietnam in 1968.
An avid outdoors man, he loved to hunt, fish, watch birds and take walks on trails with his fiancé Sue. Bill loved life, had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He enjoyed his family, especially his nieces and nephews who would bring out his inner child. He also dearly loved his cats, B.W., Morty and Katie.
Left to mourn Bill's passing and carry on his memory is his fiancé, best friend and soul mate of 39 years, Susan Melhorn Tiffany of Oshkosh; siblings, Tom (Dorothy) Jenkins of Six Lakes, Michigan, Bob (Cindy) Jenkins of Oshkosh, Joni Geiger of Oshkosh, John (Deb) Jenkins of Oshkosh; nieces and nephews, Jim, Paul (Jenny), Christine, Tricia (Shane) Scott, Kyle, Kayla; great nieces and nephews, Ty, Mason, Ellai, Taylor and Wade. He is further survived by many extended family members and special friends, Stephen Gehrke and Violet Ratajczak. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jenkins; aunt, Helen Eckman and his cat, B.W.
Memorial service for Bill will take place at 4:00p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with military honors to follow. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will take place at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
