William R. "Bill" Kollross Jr., age 86, of King, Wisconsin, and formerly of Oshkosh, died Sunday afternoon, December 28, 2014, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Born on March 14, 1928, in Fond du Lac, the son of William and Wilma (Witzke) Kollross Sr., Bill was raised in Oshkosh and spent most of his later years back in his hometown.
A veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U. S. Army from 1948 to 1952, Bill was a member of Cook-Fuller American Legion Post 70. He was employed as an Industrial Engineer in the automotive industry for many years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed swimming, sailing, camping, and watching sports, especially the Packers.
He was a proud father to Edward (Rosalie) Kollross, Wendy (Keith Young) Kollross, Melinda Kollross, and James (Elizabeth) Kollross; grandfather to Kyle, Lauren, Taylor, Ashley, John, James, Alyssa, and Kristina; former husband to Elaine (Lazik) Kollross. He was preceded in death by his parents and longtime companion, Joyce Smerling.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park with full Military Honors.
