Obituary

William A "Bill" Mack, age 82, of Omro took Jesus' hand to eternal life, December 12, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born on May 29, 1924 in Milwaukee, the son of Emil & Mata Mack. He married Hazel Garschke, May 11, 1946, at Christ Church in Milwaukee. Bill answered the call of his country serving in WW II from February 1943 – to December 1945, with the US Army. Bill retired as plant manger from Bucyrus-Erie in 1982.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Hazel Mack of Omro; his son, Tom Mack & wife Sharon of Greendale; four grandchildren, Michele Weckwerth & friend David Wiznerowicz, Jolene (Ed) Witczak, Chris Mack & Tim Mack; 2 great grand children, Kiera and Riley; brother, Kenneth Mack of Oshkosh; sister, Louise Turban of Omro; sister-in-law, Joyce Duckwall of Palmetto, Fl; friend, Tom Grudowski, other relatives and many friends. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Emil & Mata Mack; his daughter, Sandra Weckwerth; in laws, Olga & Christ Garschke, Roger Turban, Phyllis Mack and Paul Duckwall.
Bill was an avid Green Bay Packer & Wisconsin Badger fan. He spent many hours fishing & hunting on Lake Butte des mort. Bill belonged to AMVET Post 7, Oshkosh, and was a very dedicated member of Kiwanis Club of Omro for many years. Bill was a former Past Lt. Governor 1991-92, District Chair for Young Children Priority 1, Past President & Past Secretary for ll years. Past member of the Sand Pit Fishing Club. For the Town of Omro, Bill served as Town Chairman from 1985 – 87, and Town Supervisor for several years.
Visitation for Bill will be held at the Omro Funeral Home on Friday, December 15, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in the Omro Cemetery.
Special thanks to all of Bill's doctors and nurses and everyone else who touched his life. A memorial in Bill's name is being established.
