William Charles Woodke, age 85, of Oshkosh, died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on June 14, 2017. Bill was born November 13, 1931, in Sioux City, IA, the son of Ronald and Carolyn Woodke. He graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA with a Bachelors degree in Economics. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman First Class. He married Jaris Guild in Hazel Crest, IL, on September 12, 1954. He had worked as a Reinsurance Executive for American Reinsurance. Bill had the distinct honor of being a story teller extraordinaire. He also enjoyed reading, coin collecting and being a member of the Lions Club. Bill's favorite all time pastimes were fishing in Canada and living in and hosting his family in the cabin he built.Bill is loved and will be missed by his wife of 62 years, Jaris of Oshkosh; daughters, Cynthia (Jack) Tisinai of Omro, Catherine (Paul) Burdick of Batavia, IL, Lisa (Chris) DeAngelis of Palos Park, IL,; sisters, Mary Peterson of St. George, UT and Carolyn (Raymond) Jakubczak of St. George, UT; grandchildren, Amanda (Daniel) Dungan of Dubuque, IA, Daniel (Katie McCartney) Frantz of Leaf River, IL, Christa (Steven Griffith) Burdick of North Hampton, MA, Rachel (Erik Kammeyer) Burdick of Lake Orion, MI, Andrew, William and Dominic DeAngelis all of Palos Park, Il; great grandchildren, Amelia, Isaac, Elliot and Levi Dungan and John William Frantz; brother-in-law, Emery Oscar Peterson; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Allen Woodke; parents, Ronald and Carolyn Woodke; sister, Dorothy Lee and brother-in-laws, William Lee and Emery Oscar Peterson.Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the funeral home in Omro from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Full military honors will be presented immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all the nurses, nurses aides, caregivers and physicians at Aurora Medical Center/Aurora Medical Group as well as staff and caregivers at Eden Meadows Rehab for the excellent care given to Bill.Memorials in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans, Lions Club or the Oshkosh Humane Society.
